    Summer of the Storms

Our area saw lots of storms this summer, especially with the Derecho in late June. Once we made it through that storm, I began trying to photograph each storm that rolled through the area. Several of them had wonderful and dramatic clouds. The rain was impressive with the strong wind blowing it around as well.
While these storms can, and did, cause damage around town, these pictures show the beautiful side of them. Not everything is as ugly as it seems.

These are some of my best shots, out of all of the ones I took. The first photo is of clouds from a storm at the end of May. The next set are from a storm in progression over Mason's Knob and Poor Mountain on Sept 1. The progression is what really makes this special. I could literally see the rain coming over the mountain! The video is from the Derecho that hit in June. We were participating in Star City Motor Madness, a celebration of classic cars, when it hit. Please enjoy, and as always, feedback is welcome!
