    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     DaElmersBack told me, 'America's pastime is football. It is a time to support a favorite team without thinking about anything else. Football is a time to relax from the seriousness of life. The last thing people want to see or hear is news related subjects. This wasn't the place for Bob [Costas] to express his thoughts or relay what others thought. Everyone knows it isn't the gun that kills, but the person behind it.'

    It angers me that Bob decided to use his NFL platform to discuss guns. This wasn't the place nor the time for such a discussion. It isn't the weapon, but the person behind it.
