    A new future awaits

My name is Lina and I am 45 years old. I am married with 2 kids. I've lead a sedentary lifestyle for the past 12 years, ever since I had my first child. Shuttling between a full time job, kids activities and chores, left me with no time to exercise.

Over the years this has taken a toll, I get home stressed, irritable and too exhausted to get through the day. I work hard to get my family to eat healthy and stay fit, but had neglected to do so myself. Realized this past summer that I was struggling to keep up with my 10 and 12 year old, out of breath on a short hike. My quality of life was on a sharp decline. The last straw came when I found out a dear friend was diagnosed with cancer. I knew in that instant that I had to take back control of my life. I needed to lead by example and get on a path to a healthy lifestyle.

Not just for myself, I want to inspire all other working moms like me, who are over worked and don't think they have the time or the capacity to make a difference. I vowed to make a difference with good eating habits, meditation and exercise.

No, I am not overweight, but that is where the bulk of us fall through the cracks in our current system. Unnoticed, we continue to trudge along, until we wake up one day to a diagnosis that could've been avoided all along.

I read the article on the CNN fitNation and it inspired me immensely. Here was a group of people that had overcome odds to succeed.

I’m hoping the talented CNN team will be able to come up with creative ways to incorporate exercise and daily nutrition into our hectic lifestyle and give us a new future to wake up to.

    Thanks CNN
