Watercolor Hand Painted Letters from Frame The Moment
I did not know I could paint but one evening sitting in our boat, which at the time was our home, after Allegra fell a sleep, I started painting and to my surprise there it was; the first little "A" appeared with a playground and rainbows. The first completed work was of course the name "Allegra" which was hung on Allegra's bedroom door. I believe that my husband Jeff communicated to me on a spiritual level how to draw; he is an architect and he draws beautifully and skillfully; he never gave me a drawing or painting lesson, but I discovered that I could paint after I met him, and as a result of being exposed to him.
At that time I was a stay-at-home Mom and watched children in my boat in NYC. When mothers would come to pick up their children they would see Allegra's name and ask me if I would paint their children's name and that made me consider the fact that people might be attracted to the colorful images/letters.
I eventually had two more children, Cristina and Blu; and a full time job. The time for painting disappeared for several years. I picked it up again in 2008; my family and I were leaving in Tampa, FL. I was between jobs and had some time on my hands; I dug out in a forgotten box my old pocket folder where the letters had been stored and had survived several moves. Along with it, I found my old paint brushes and started painting again; to my surprise my skill had improved. One day it came to me to digitalize my work; it made sense to upload my work in a graphic design program and use the technology to design the names and words in a more efficient way, and doing so would also free up more time for me to paint.
At the time, I did not know any graphic design program but I was determined to learn. In time God provided the people and the tools in my life to be able to do so, one step at the time.
I believe that maximizing all the different moments in life is what life is all about and I enjoy placing all those moments of life, beauty and enjoyment on paper. I hope that they will bring some enjoyment to you as well and maybe serve as a reminder to observe and live each moment fully and deeply.
Thank you,
Giovannella.
