I WILL NOT BE SILENT, EVEN IF IT MEANS LOSING MY LIFE!
I WILL NOT BE SILENT, EVEN IF IT MEANS LOSING MY LIFE! From the Web blog of Sattar Beheshti, Iranian web blogger and activist murdered under tortured at the hands of Iran's Cyber Police. "Shut your big mouth and tell your mother that she will soon be dressed in mourning", they threatened yesterday. "I am not doing anything that merits shutting my mouth.", I respond. "You blabber too much!" "I only write about what I see and hear." "We will do what ever we please. We will take what ever action necessary. You must shut up and stop informing people. If not you will quietly and anonymously be forced to shut up. You will be forced to shut up without anyone ever knowing what became of you. The people of Palestine and Bahrain are suffering and no one remembers them. You are a traitor!" "Neither I, nor those who are like me are traitors. We love our country. It is you who worship foreign powers. You are the traitors! The threatening phone calls continue day and night, all designed to make us keep quiet. As an Iranian I hereby declare that I cannot remain silent in light of such tragedy. It is all your blabbering, gossip, rumors and innuendo that led to the destruction of our country. I will not be silent even if it means losing my life. I will not be silenced, no matter where in the world I may be. I don't care who threatens me, I will not be silenced. Gentlemen it is you who need to shut your mouths. Stop the injustice and I will stop exposing you!" Sattar Beheshti 29th October, 2012
