Drilling in Anguar?
The republican candidates are proposing that we drill offshore and begin tapping into our own natural reserves. When first hearing this I could not believe what I was hearing. For those who do not know the effects of this on the continuing inflation of gas prices here it is. 2% that means 2 cents out of 1.00 guys. To me that is virtually nothing in exchange for the depletion of our own natural resources. When doing something like using your own resources that means that you are trying to eliminate the need for imported goods. However this type of economic policy leans toward isolationism. Isolationism means not importing goods from other countries and producing our own goods and exporting them as well. My question to them is what happens to the United States when those vital resources are gone? Then we go from Isolationists to depending completely upon foreign countries to import goods. The only reason why the economy is doing so poorly is because of our own greed and poor foreign policy. Instead of concentrating on the countries that are contributing to us we are trying to take resources from countries who do not want to comply. The Federals have had to bail out both Fannie May and Freddie Mac because they were greedy and took people for everything they have. Let us not forget about the 85 billion dollar bailout of AIG yesterday. The fact is that if we choose to depend on ourselves instead of improving foreign policy and fixing our own businesses ethics we will end up a poor (as if we are not heading there already) and in-compliant country which can only end up in the destruction of the United States.
