    Men Cook!

In preparation for a grand feast to celebrate the ordination of new ministers at our Anglican congregation of St. Matthias here in Nuku 'alofa this Sunday, as is the usual here in Tonga, the men of the family get together and have exclusivity when it comes to outdoor cooking rights. They were all up at the crack of dawn to do their part (some of which is surely most unpleasant) and provide the roast suckling pigs, local crab and shellfish delicacies and Tongan staple root crops which were cooked over an open fire to accompany the salads, fruits, desserts, decorations and drinks that the ladies were making indoors with their own brand of cameraderie and conversation, not to be outdone, I'm sure. Tongan-style cooking at its best!
