Our Experience during the Clackamas Mall Shooting

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Martin4News told me, 'During our Christmas shopping, we noticed people running and screaming out of JC Penney's yelling there is someone in the mall shooting people. It didn't sink in until we had joined everyone outside and heard cop sirens going off. People were running to their cars and crying; meanwhile, others were calling and texting friends and family about the occurring event happening before their eyes. The employees of the mall were also instructed to lock the doors once everyone was out and safe. I really didn't think about it, I just started to record video clips with my iPhone 4S and was able to catch some of the events happening outside of the mall on video. In the beginning of the video we notice a group of policemen loading their guns and putting on bullet proof vests as they approached the entrance to JC Penney's where we were located. They kept yelling "get out of here and move away from the building."'

Video was shot on Dec. 11/2012 around 3:30pm during a visit to JCpenny's.
Videos shot with my iPhone 4S by Martin Torres.
This video is the property of Martin Torres, Jr.

Me and my wife were visiting JCpenny while doing some last minute Christmas shopping when all of a sudden we began to see people running towards the exit door screaming, "there is someone in the mall shooting people." I really didn't know what to think but to follow the crowd out the door. My immediate instincts just said, start video recording. From then on, I began to record several Video clips of our experience that afternoon. I am so glad that me, my wife, and all who were near us were able to make it out safe.

Much thoughts and prayers continue to go out to all the individuals and families who were effected by this shooting. Praying for our community here in Portland, OR.
