    The Sendoff Redux

Papua New Guinea was a place that I had wanted to visit since I was a child. I got the chance in May, 2012. Part of the trip involved a visit to tribes who live on the Karawari River (a tributary of the Sepik River). I had just visited this family to watch a demonstration of how Sago flour is harvested from the Sago Palm and then prepared with different foods. The children helped us "shove off" as we departed. [NOTE: the original photo was marked as "Discretion Advised" by someone else after I had submitted it. Not only was I a bit disappointed about that, but I was worried that people would be deterred from viewing the picture because of that label. I decided to cut out the part of the image "in question" (which was nothing more than a couple of naked tribal children running around in the distance) and focus on the actual subjects of the shot--the children pushing our boat away].
