This iReport is part of an assignment:
What was your best moment of 2012?
We have mom back
After a year fighting cancer, mom Danila is back home with her family in Pordenone, northern Italy. Martina says her best moment of 2012 was talking to her mother after her last surgery.
“Hearing her voice again, erasing all my worries and pains. In her voice there was something else, there was a new strength, a new will to live. That picture means a lot to me, mom has a smile that is new to me.”

My best moment in 2012 was when I called my mom Danila on November 14, after a 11-hour surgery for the reconstruction of her left breast.
Hearing her voice on the phone was the best moment I had in one-and-a-half year of intense struggle against her breast cancer. I was so happy I started to cry.
Her last year-and-a-half has been very hard. She has been struggling against the discovery of her cancer, the mastectomy, the chemo and radio therapies, the loss of her hair and strengths, sometimes also the loss of hope. The family stood close to her and our love tripled. Last Christmas she was suffering, undergoing her chemotherapies and we had nothing to celebrate. This year, although the fight is not over, we will be celebrating our personal Christmas, the reborn of our mom from the ashes of the beast.
These pictures were taken yesterday night, at my parents' a month after her breast reconstruction. Her body still aches, but her spirit is higher. We stay unite to celebrate and to pray it is over.
This was the best of my 2012, hearing her voice after a long night.
