This iReport is part of an assignment:
What was your best moment of 2012?
Malik was born with clubbed feet and a physical condition called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenitas which means he has little muscle strength in his limbs.
His mum Charlotte, a 35-year-old trainee teacher from Berlin, took this photo in August after the casts on Malik’s legs had been taken off: “He loves playing with mud and water so we were all very happy when the casts were removed.”
“I was a bit down for a few weeks before the photo was taken, but at some point in the summer the weight got lifted of me. Watching my cheerful and determined young man helped me to realise what matters in life and what doesn't. “Malik is a very cheerful, happy, easy going young man, not much can hold him back, not even being stuck in casts. He was in casts the first 12 weeks of his life and his first baths after they were removed was one of my memorable moments in 2010,” she said.

The year before he had big surgeries on both of his feet. He spent a lot of the summer in casts. This year, he learned to walk among many other things. It's great when you don't take things like walking and having all joints in the right place for granted, the little things can be a source of great happiness!
I also love how he's rocking that t-shirt...
