Little Rock, Arkansas
Looking For That Elusive Holiday Spirit?
Colorful Fall leaves still graced the trees at the Little Rock, Arkansas waterfront district when the city began decorating for the winter holidays.
A charming ice rink nestles near the historic Market building and offers a chance to meet up with family and friends and get into the spirit a little early. Christmas carols and twinkling decorations liven and light it up right on the banks of the Arkansas River.
President Clinton Drive, the main street along this bustling waterfront area is decorated to the nines as tourists, residents and busy shoppers stop in at the multi-cultural eateries, upscale restaurants, unique shops, and museums that populate this popular area.
Art work and beautiful sculptures frequent the entire area, adorning walls, and popping out of tree lined lanes and secluded crannies.
Laughs rise up daily from the rivers edge where children and the not so young are sliding down slopes. Not snow covered hills, but grassy slopes that are as much fun sliding down on nothing more than a flattened, and well used cardboard box.
A walking trail winds you around the river and the Arkansas Queen takes you on the river for a scenic, invigorating tour. Walking bridges tower above and span the river, and quaint trolleys take the shopping-weary to see the sights and sample area delights.
If the holiday spirit is having trouble locating you this year, a visit to Little Rock may just be the way for it to find you.
