Newtown school shooting: Thoughts and tributes |
Honoring the victims of Sandy Hook
The day after this incomprehensible act of violence that I’m still unable to neither comprehend nor explain to my children; I took my 2 boys ages 6 and 8 along with my friends 2 boys, ages 7 and 11 to Jones Beach in Wantagh, NY. Before arriving at the beach and picking up my friends 2 sons, we stopped at the store with the intend to buy 27 battery powered candles, but they were all out, so my sons picked out 20 angel ornaments along with 7 dove. We found a nice secludes place in the sand and made our own shrine for all of the victims of Sandy Hook in Newtown CT. We all held hands and we each said a prayer. My friends 11 year old son wrote "Pray for these angels" in the sand.
A piece of me died that Friday.
