    Salute to troops

    Salute to the Troops

This salute goes to my son-in-law Chief Warrant Officer Terry Stinson who has been serving in the Coast Guard for 15 years and is currently stationed in Bahrain. We often forget our 5th branch of the military, the Coast Guard, and their honorable service to our country. Consequently, we never think of them serving overseas away from their families. Terry left for Bahrain in early July shortly after his son turned 3 months old and his 5 year old  was ready to start kindergarten. Despite the thousands of miles away, he has attempted against all odds, to have, in some way, daily contact with his family. Even with the time difference, travel, 14 hour shifts, and poor connections he makes it his priority to connect with his family before they start their day - which brings them such peace of mind and joy.
This salute goes out not only for Terry but to all the men and women who serve in the military, and especially the Coast Guard, who play a crucial role in saving lives and keeping our nation secure.
Merry Christmas and thanks to all who serve - please know that you and your service  are never forgotten and we hold you close in our prayers.  May the good Lord bless you and your families and keep you safe in the New Year.
