This iReport is part of an assignment:
Newtown school shooting: Thoughts and tributes |
my daughter and Sandy hook
this is my daughter and now every time I look at her I remember about the parents of those 20 kids - they cannot see their kids anymore. It breaks my heart - they will be left with the pain once the media forgets it. That is why we should not forget it - lets make something out of it .
Is what kind of country do we live in where schools need to have bullet proof glass, bullet proof backpacks - we are going to other countries to liberate them from tyrants - aren't we under some gun trotting tyrants who threat our kids with these assault rifles?
The fascinating portion of the debate is one which now looks into the values of teachers carrying guns - which worlds are you all living in.
US is a very primitive country in many ways - lacks intellectual mass - the general debates are around creationism, gay marriage, lack of truth in global warming etc. I can live with that because I can avoid those discussion but I cannot avoid a bullet so easily.
I hope as US population gets more educated then probably the discussions will change but I doubt it.
The folks who drafted the US constitution were not "know all" and did not really expect people to carry Assault rifles to protect their homes. So may be US needs to have some gun control or put it some insurance - which means if you have an assault rifle then you need insurance. (Again most people in US lacks any kind of fine thinking unless it is tied to food or a TV show).
But try to rise over it and save your own children - even in Mali kids do not wear bullet proof vests
What do you think of this story?
