    Birds of Maui

On a very recent trip to Maui, Hawaii, I was determined to get some shots of their beautiful birds. I expected to have to crawl through dense forests, mud, and difficult terrain, to my surprise, most of these birds were all on my lanai! Right in front of me.
I had no difficulty at all getting some good close ups.
Maui is such a beautiful island, few roads, but quite scenic. The road north of the island is very challenging, at times only one lane, on one side a precipice and on the other a mountain, you could not see who is coming made this trip quite scary, but the reward was the breathtaking scenery as well as stands where you could purchase their famous banana bread.
At the other end of the island is the road to Hana, I had been there before, many years ago, and found that now the road was greatly improved, and not as dangerous as it was before. Lovely lush scenery, beautiful waterfalls greeted us, a tropical Paradise!
Being an island in the middle of the ocean makes it quite expensive, but that is to be expected as everything has to be shipped or flown in. The Hotels are simply gorgeous, they provide every luxury you can imagine, it’s just like being at home.
Beaches are of course the main attraction, and the best ones are part of the Hotels.
Maui is also known for its sunsets, I have taken a few which I will post soon.
