    Gun control debate: Background checks

No my AR-15 was not banned ast time. I don't believe in gun control. I have mine for many reasons. One its relieable. This whole matter of gun control has gotten out of hand. There is not anything that i can do with my AR-15 that can't be done with any semi automatic HUNTING rifle. In fact most hunting rifles are more powerful than my AR-15. Carlos N. Hathcock II was in my opinion the greatest sniper who ever lived. Carlos Hathcock was a United States Marine in the Vietnam war, he had 93 confrimed kills and they [the military] think as many as 400 probables. He never used a military weapon except on one occasion that is well documented. He did use however a Winchester Model 70 30-06 HUNTING rifle. That weapon is by far more powerful than my AR-15. The problem with most of this misconception is that because this rifle looks like its evil, it must be. Mayor Bloomberg and Dianne Feinstein are out there making statements that are just out and out lies. And talking about rifles they know nothing about Senator Feinstein did or has a concealed carry permit. but yet she doesn't want anyone else to have a gun. What did the last assault weapons ban accomplish ? NOTHING . I know of people who can shoot a 6 shot revolver 36 times in less than 30 seconds, and that includes reloading it 6 times. So taking that into account the high capacity mags complaint is really a mute point. I have had my current AR-15 now since 1988. I use it for personal defense and sport shooting. What happened in Newtow Ct. is tragic, but banning certain type of rifles will not and never has stopped murders. Evil acts of violence are perpetrated by sick or evil humans, not the weapons they used.I could go on and on, but the ones with the power have made up there minds, but i leave with a quote " A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attemptment to abuse them, which would include there own Government." George Washington
