    Romance at Christmas

It is ..snowing outside   James and I are alone today as our children scurry around to all the gatherings on the other side of their mate's family I find myself thankful for such a beautiful guiet day with my husband James. As we lay bed and share thankfulness we are best friends. It is like how it was when we first got married before the children came and all the magic of Chrimas each child brought was never quiet but joyous and fun.

Now for the last three years we have lost someone every year. First my dad, then Erin and now James,s mother and mine died in her sleep and the loss is felt
Yet what is also felt is the tremendous  love we share with each other. .We are best friends, mates and lovers all wrapped up in a present called us. Merry Christmas after 38 years of togetherness!!

He was my knight in shining armour .  He met me when after just getting back from four years in Africa .  James was driving truck in the  middle of the night and I came up to him stranded. I had a pretty smile and a can of gas that needed to get to my car near Moosimin Saskatchewan.  He said one look and he would have done anything for me.
Eight days later he put a solitaire exquisite ring from Birks onto my finger , walked me out onto Portage Avenue and twirled me in the air. We said our good byes as I was working in Sakatoon and he lived in Winnipeg  He ran his Frieghtliner Truck out of my home city Winnipeg with a Freightliner pulling pups. We saw each other exactly eight weekends and got married eight weeks later. My life with the love of my life began.
