So the end of the world came and went with very little if any fanfare.
Frankly, I'm somewhat disappointed in the Mayans. Not being known as an overly pessimistic person, I was still strangely looking forward to it.
Not in the sense of all things coming to an end, but in the hopes that perhaps it somehow lined up with God's plan and that it coincided with a new beginning; that blessed hope in the idea that the stupidity of our leaders and wars and disease and hunger and hate and innocent children dying were wiped away so that the lion would finally lay down with the lamb...
...and there would be peace.
Still, faith tells me we cannot be too far off the mark for the end and would still not be surprised to see it yet in my lifetime. Study tells me that while no man knows the hour or the day, a wise virgin will keep her lamp trimmed so that when the bridegroom cometh in the midnight hour we shall not be left in the outer darkness.
