1965 VW Bus music in the nude
I was a bandleader in LA in the 60's, had a '65 VW bus with curtains on all windows. I often used the Ambrosia rhythm section and hauled our gear.
One week I had a Spinet mini upright piano in the back.
Nearby drivers would do double takes as they could hear live piano coming from my bus.
I'd yell out the window, 'Any requests?' or 'and how about
a Polka,' as pianist Chris North jammed away unseen in the back.
In '73 we were hired to play the Miss Nude USA Beauty Contest.
As we drove out of LA we decided to get in the mood and drive nude so we all tore off our clothes and took turns pumping gas in the raw along the way to the Treehouse Fun Ranch nudist colony in Riverside.
No one said a word - sights like these must have been a common occurrence in California in those days!
I sold my bus in 1978 and moved to Japan, would love to buy it back!
