Me Among the Stars and Mountains
- Jareen, CNN iReport producer
It was a cold Colorado winter night, and I determined to head Mount Hoosier, a tall mountain deep in the Rockies, which was a long treacherous drive up 12,000 feet in the air. Eventually after driving through snow and ice for half an hour I reached the summit. The stars were sparkling brightly and beautifully through the majestic evergreen trees. I cautiously headed out of my vehicle into the extreme temperature, the cold and wind dug into me like frosty knives. With the temperature being 10 degrees below zero and the wind howling furiously at 50 miles per hour I knew I did not have much time to get the shot I so desired of the Milky Way hovering above the beautiful dark forest. After several hours of walking through the desolate forest with my camera I still didn't have a shot I was satisfied with. Eventually I set my camera right in front of my car and let the shutter fire, just to see what it would look like. The result was stunning, my futuristic metal machine starkly contrasted against the ancient glowing night sky. This was the shot I had been waiting for all night!
