The George H.W. Bush years: Your take

Met at Coretta Scott King's Funeral

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     iReporter fivewest1 met former U.S. president George H.W. Bush in 2006 in Atlanta while transporting journalists to civil rights icon Coretta Scott King's funeral. "I voted for him," he said. "He did a good job and he has a legacy of caring for others and the concern for others."
    - sarahbrowngb, CNN iReport producer

I was one of 9 Drivers who volunteered our time to transport various people to and from Coretta Scott King's Funeral in Atlanta in February 2006. I drove the van that had the White House Travelling Press Corps, called Camera 1. Both President's came along with many former one's including Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. I had a Secret Service Agent assigned to me during the time and met the former President Bush when he came over to the Limo's used to transport the current President Bush. All 9 of us "Drivers" were photographed with the former President Bush in a picture that I still have. We each greeted him with a handshake and "Good Morning Mr. President" salutation. After the picture he wanted to know who we were and where we worked. We each got a one on one for a couple of minutes to fill in the blanks. He took all of that information to heart. After that it was into the vans and off to the church. I have stills and highway video of the motorcade right up to the arrival back at Atlanta Hartsfield Airport where my Secret Service Agent took a picture of me next to Air Force One as the President was already aboard. This is something that I will never forget.
