This iReport is part of an assignment:
New Facebook: Love it or leave it? |
No, Facebook. Just "no."
I don't like Facebook's new format. It's cluttered, counter-intuitive, and confusing. I can't imagine what it would be like for someone new to Facebook. Funny thing is...I helped a friend create an account today and, to my surprise, was not even given the option to use the new format.
Maybe I am resitant to change, scared to try new things, and "set in my ways," but so are a majority of human beings. In case Facebook doesn't realize, over 99.9% of their users are human beings (astonishing statistics, I know!). Yes, folks...my biggest problem with the new format is the fact that they decided not to give us a choice.
Once being an avid myspace user, I began using and appreciating Facebook more. Why? It was simple. No music playing in your ear every time you visited another member's page, no large and annoying ads telling you you were going to die, no invitations from young women asking you to view their webcams, no gaudy page layouts to make you cringe shortly before deciding you wanted nothing more to do with the owner of the page.
Facebook was once the classy alternative to myspace. Now it's the classy girlfriend you once loved, but you begin to feel distant from because she wants to move into your house and tell you what colors to paint your walls and how to arrange your furniture. You're given an ultimatum...marry me or it's over. I wonder how many of us will give into the demands?
