    U.S.S.R.composing legend, Dimitri Shostakovich (1906 - 1975) was headed for greatness untill Stalin, labeled his music, "formalistic" after atending a performance of Shostakovich's, "Lady Macbeth of Minsk." The chain smoking maestro, after suffering a sudden heart attack disapeared from the music scene for a while, only to re-surfce later as one of Russia's greatest composers and garnering both the 1966 "Hero of Socialist Labor" and the, "Order of Lenin" awards.
