The fiscal cliff: Messages to Washington |
It's Time to Overcome Partisanship
- Michelle Cohan, CNN iReport producer
I am 18 years old, and I am from Orlando, Florida. I go to college in DC at The George Washington University. For the past few years, I have been following our government, and I have seen Congress deteriorate. It is too clouded by polarization, partisanship, and gridlock to actually get anything done. Congress is supposed to run our country, but instead all the lawmakers are too focused on getting re-elected and pleasing their parties. It's time to change that, because if we don't, then this country is no longer going to be able to function. The fiscal cliff shows that our lawmakers would rather hold to their parties then save America from a recession. How have we ended up like this?
