Your 'Aha' weight-loss moments |
All limitations are self imposed.
Exactly one year later I weigh in at 219, with a goal of weighing 150 by the end of 2013. I was NEVER a runner, and ran six races this year. I'm already signed up for 12 more!
What makes every workout and every polite decline to eat a cup cake worth it?
I couldn’t really remember my “why” for starting, but it all came to me as I was running on the treadmill yesterday during my lunch break.
I want to live a very long life in the healthiest way possible. I don’t want to get cancer..ever. I've watched two grandmothers lose their fight against it.
I don’t want to be on any kind of medication. I want to be active into my 80s and 90s.
I want to run and push my body to its limits. I want to do that for those who can’t. For those who lost limb and or their life for my freedom. The least I can do is push myself to the limit and not give up.
I of course have some selfish motivations.. to turn heads.. to have abs, to fit into sizes of clothes I haven’t seen since high school, to be fit, to surpass any goal I set and make new ones.
The biggest surprise of this journey so far has been inspiring others.. I didn’t expect so many questions on how I got started, what I do, and have others emulating that. I’d like to continue to inspire others and have them hold me accountable.
I used to drive past people running in 100 degree heat and think… oh you poor person.. that’s just torture. Now i’ve become a mental cheerleader.. YEAH! You go! That is amazing, look at your pace, keep it up!
If you would have told me a year ago I would be running races and 45 lbs. lighter.. I would have laughed at you. Now.. I can't wait to see what else I can do outside of my comfort zone!
