    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Bangalore, India, resident akashb captured these somber images of locals attending a vigil to commemorate the young woman who died after being gang raped in the capital, Delhi, a few days ago. "I went there to capture people's emotions and reaction to this brutal incident," he said. "I am ashamed as a man today in my own country." He says the key to stopping such appalling crimes is education, not more brutal punishments for those who instigate such attacks. "Harsher punishment will stop a case here and there, but will not change our mind-set," he said. "When will our conscience overpower our instincts?"

    Emotions ran high in Freedom Park,Bangalore on rainy December evening during candle light protest following the death of the Delhi gangrape victim with people, particularly women, demanding stringent punishment including death penalty, for the perpetrators of the crime.
