It was New Year’s Eve last night here in the Philippines. About past 11 last night aerial fireworks were fired into the air above Tunasan, Muntinlupa City. I’m from Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila. I took videos of the aerial fireworks in Tunasan, Muntinlupa City that took place some hours ago. I’m spending New Year’s Day in my parents’ home at San Pedro, Laguna. Huge crowds gathered at Tunasan, Muntinlupa City to watch the spectacular fireowrks up in the skies. Crowds cheered and clapped their hands upon seeing the spectacular fireworks there. Filipinos love to celebrate the New Year with a big bang, so to speak. The lighting up of firecrakers and fireworks during New Year’s Eve here in the Philippines is a solid tradition. Such tradition is now a part and parcel of Philippine culture. The said tradition was introduced in the Philippines by Chinese traders a long time ago. The lighting up of firecrackers and fireworks during New Year’s Eve is supposed to bring in good luck and drive away negativity and bad spirits. Hence, many Filipinos light up firecrackers and fireworks during New Year’s Eve.
