New Year’s Eve In San Pedro, Laguna, Philippines- Part 2

I arrived here in San Pedro, Laguna. Last night at around 11:55 pm. I took some videos of the exploding of firecrackers and fireworks by the common people in the said town. I will celebrate New Year’s Day here in the house of my parents. The videos in this iReprt showed how the common folks in San Pedro, Laguna, Philippines welcomed the New Year with a big bang.

The lighting up of firecrakers and fireworks during New Year’s Eve here in the Philippines is a strong tradition. Such tradition can now be considered as part and parcel of Philippine culture. The said tradition was introduced in the Philippines by Chinese traders a long time ago. The lighting up of firecrackers and fireworks during New Year’s Eve is supposed to bring in good luck and drive away negativity and bad spirits. That’s the reason why many Filipinos light up firecrackers and fireworks during New Year’s Eve.
