Welcome, 2013! |
Another beautiful Tournament of Roses Parade
- zdan, CNN iReport producer
The City of Pasadena, CA hosted the 124th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade this morning and the crowds were not going to let a little chilly weather keep them away.
This was my second time attending the Rose Parade and I think it was a lot more crowded this year than last. Maybe I just had better seats last year.
Many of you saw my iReport on the building of floats at Fiesta Parade Floats (http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-902338) or my article on the Cal Poly Universities entry (http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-904493) so I picked 10 of those floats to show here. I took 1,600 photos, so it will take a few hours to get them ready. You will be able to find them at http://www.gotbaddog.com/?s=%22tournament+of+roses%22/
The floats shown are as follows:
City of Torrance - Oh, the Places You'll Go!
Sweepstakes Trophy for most beautiful entry - Dole: "Dreaming of Paradise"
Theme Trophy for best presentation of the Rose Parade theme - Kaiser Permanente: "Oh, The Healthy Things You Can Do!"
Rose Queen and Princesses
Crown City Innovation Trophy for best use of imagination and innovation to advance the art of float design - Miracle-Gro: "Everyone Grows!"
The Nurses' Float - A Healing Place
Past Presidents' Trophy for most creative use of floral and nonfloral materials - Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance Pet Foods: "Canines with Courage'"
President's Trophy for most effective use and presentation of flowers - Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economies, Republic of Indonesia: "Wonderful Indonesia"
Queen's Trophy for best use of roses - AIDS Healthcare Foundation: "The Global Face of AIDS''
Bob Hope Humor Trophy for most comical and amusing -- Cal Poly Universities: "Tuxedo Air"
