I know that the title sounds unhealthy but when I was 6'1 and 285 lbs it wasn't that bad. I was an average sized teen until about 15 when I started a medication that one side effect was weight gain. I blew up like a balloon. Hardly any photos of me at that time so excuse the hunting pic I used for my before. I was 16 in the before pic and 17 in the after. As you can see I was even proud of my new body. How did I do it? 2 weeks at Camp Shelby's youth program. No I didn't graduate but I got the best boost of my life. All the exercise requirements and running etc helped me knock that excess fat off quick. 80 lbs in 2 weeks actually. After I got home I didn't want to put the weight back on so I decided to figure out what the best exercise for me was. I tried running, racket ball, swimming etc and it all did well but I gained about 5 lbs back. Everyone told me it was muscle building up but I still thought it was just fat. Then I had a true AH HA moment one day sitting at the computer. I was thinking "What am I doing differently?" when it dawned on me that I was SITTING. At the camp we only got to sit down for our few 5 minute smoke breaks and meals everyday. So from then on I vowed not to sit down for anything but travel in a car. Turns out that when you are standing you are firing stabilizing muscles in your legs thousands of times a minute. My weight loss started again after that. I lost another 25 lbs, including the 5 I gained back. Down to great 6'1 and 185 lbs.
(The irony? I am in a wheelchair with a gut now.)
