    The greenhouses of the Botanical Garden from Cluj-Napoca will be closed one day every month starting January 2013

     
    The greenhouses of the „Al. Borza” Botanical Garden from Cluj-Napoca will be closed every first Monday of each month starting January 1 2013, for periodical maintainance procedures.
    „As a result of our statistical studies regarding the number of visitors to the Botanical Garden, we draw the conclusion that the lowest presence of visitors is being registered on the first Monday of every month” say the representatives of the Botanical Garden, also mentioning that „in order to maintain the plants in an optimum shape it is mandatory that preventive fitosanitary treatments be applied periodically (at least once a month) and also maintainance substances with various degrees of toxicity , being necessary to forbid the access of visitors duyring the application of this treatment, as well as in the next 10 ours after these have been applied”. Subordinate to the „Babes-Bolyai” University, the Botanical Garden in Cluj-Napoca is a scientific, teaching and educational facility which was founded in the year 1920 by Proffessor Alexandru Borza. On a land surface of 14 hectares with varied configuration, adequate for the growth and development of plants from various continents, there are being cultivated here around 10.000 categories of plants.
