BENEFIT CONCERT FOR SANDY HOOK VICTIMS - SOFIJA KNEZEVIC & HOW JAZZ CAN HELP

Home-state heroes,a Serbian jazz star, the greatest British jazz trombonist, and a couple of the best musicians in New York
are performing on the 16th of January, in Somethin` Jazz Club in New York at
a benefit for the families of Sandy Hook victims.

The eclectic musical lineup includes the host and the vocalist Sofija Knezevic ( Sofijazz), Elliot Mason on trombone, Luques Curtis on bass,
Obed Calvaire on drums and Tuomo Uusitalo on piano,
as well as a couple of special guests such as Jamison Ross, Carlos Henriquez, Craig Handy and others.
Organized by Ms. Knezevic, along with Elliot Mason and Somethin` Jazz Club this unique musical lineup came
together as a way to raise money for a good cause while maintaining the essential local connection.

Everyone on the jazz scene knows our fellow musician Jimmy Greene who lost his child, and many other people who have kids understand how
painful this must be for the families who lost their loved ones ,Ms. Knezevic said, and she and her fellow musicians are no exception.
Using their particular skills – Sofija Knezevic a musician and arranger, and Mr.Mason a musician ,composer and an educator
    – the two set out to do what they could to help.

Ms. Knezevic will start the concert with a lyric she wrote for this occasion, she did not want to tell us the name, but we will make sure to be there
and support and enjoy this cause. To call Ms. Knezevic a warbler or a songbird is not just to trot out shopworn terms for a young female jazz vocalist,
but to actually point out how many of her introductions to songs are wordless, improvised exercises in tonal coloration.

The evening is going to follow different eras and Sofija Knezevic will lead us through those stories with her sultry sound.
She will help us escape the reality and start rediscovering our personal source of spiritual nourishment.
Most of the numbers will be well known jazz standards, but you will also get a chance to hear some of her own compositions.

There will be many photographers and people from the media who will follow the event.
Social media will also play a role in raising support for this cause with a great help of Nicholas Payton, PR of the event.
