    We the Forgotten People...

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     crumpf77, who has been documenting the destruction of Superstorm Sandy for two months, told me, 'We have met many people and have truly seen the effects of this disaster. These people need all the help that can be given, and should be given.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

I am still outraged in the decision to make the Hurricane Sandy victims wait for a vote. It has been 66 days and people are still without power. Now they are being forced to wait even longer.

I feel the House Republican leadership should be ashamed of themselves in allowing Congress to end without even holding a vote to aid the victims. Now, they are only voting because the people affected are standing together and their leaders are fighting back.

Maybe, these elected officials should go visit the devastated areas to refresh their memories of the severe damage in our own country. They should recall what New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said in a news conference "this is the worst storm that I’ve seen in my lifetime in this state."

As a photographer, documenting the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, I speak from experience, when I say the damaged areas look like Berlin after WWII. With that being said, to continue to force all these people to wait for
aid is monumentally shocking. That is not the American way. We have a proud history of helping almost everyone.
