Standing With You ( A song for Newtown)

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     CreatorArts told me, 'Being a 31 year old father of 3 little girls all under the age of 5, I sat at my kitchen table watching the news in the early afternoon on 12/14/12. My little girls were safe in their beds napping. I was like most of America in shock as the death toll rose and began crying and felt that I had words that I had to write down. The song was constructed in 15 minutes after I started to write. I had asked myself, what possible message could I send these families who have been instantly broken in a moment. I couldn't physically be by their side to cry with them and to hold them up. I felt that they needed a message sent by their community (local and at large) of love, and solidarity. Since I wrote the song, it's been something that I've given away. My hope is that the people of Newtown can see their surrounding community stand with them and for them and not just today but for tomorrow and beyond. These people are our friends and our neighbors, we just haven't met them yet. '

This song was written on 12/14/12, the day of the Newtown, CT shooting. John Ciambriello lives in southern Connecticut so the shooting was so close to home. As he watched the coverage on the television, he thought about his own three girls and tried to comprehend the loss. He wrote this song that afternoon and he hopes the song helps people convey how they feel as it did for him when he wrote it. The music video was taped in West Haven on the green on December 22, 2012 after the event was posted on Facebook. People came out on a cold and windy day to be a part of the video and show their support for Newtown. Many local businesses donated food for the day.
