For Christmas I gave myself a Kindle Paperwhite 3G E reader. I have taken a trial subscription to the New York Times on Kindle and have been reading it that way all week. I find all the articles in the paper version are in the Kindle version. The cost of the paper version via subscription is about $62 a month, on Kindle that cost is about $20 a month. I don't have to take the newsprint to recycling anymore. I can use my Kindle to amass a collection of article clippings. I can also use the X Ray feature of the Kindle to discover basic information on anything in their articles. Five months of savings pay for the Kindle. When I wake up in the morning the newspaper is right on my KIndle and I don't have to get dressed and go pickup my newspaper from the lawn where the carrier throws it. The downside is that the printers have fewer papers to print, the carriers fewer papers to deliver, the recycling effort in my village gets fewer newspapers. Another plus is no ad's to read in my morning paper.
