    This iReport is part of an assignment:
    The fiscal cliff: Messages to Washington

    Trust would trump everything

     
    It's clear that over the last 4 yrs, that absent from all deal-making negotiations has been a total lack of trust between the parties. Without it little can b hoped for.
    Suggestions:
    1. White House & both houses adopt set of negotiation guidelines... several might be:
    ~ Bargaining positions are not divulged to the public unilaterally by either party
    ~ Surprise changes in position are not divulged before advising the opposition
    ~ That the media is not used to advance a position taken in confidential talks.
    2. Why not return to the earlier congressional procedure where the House bill and Senate bill are sent to a joint bi-partisan committee where a compromise bill is drafted. it worked for a long time.
