Junior Achievement of Arizona Receives $1,500 CVS Caremark Community Grant
Tempe, Ariz. – Dec. 17, 2012 – Junior Achievement of Arizona (JAAZ) announced today that it has received a $1,500 CVS Caremark Community Grant. CVS Caremark All Kids Can, the company’s signature philanthropic program, is committed to helping all children on their path to better health which is closely aligned with JAAZ’s mission.
JAAZ was selected to receive a grant through the CVS Caremark Community Grants 2011 grant application process. Grants were awarded to organizations that share a common vision with CVS Caremark’s All Kids Can program, which strives to empower children with and without disabilities to reach their full potential. The goals of the All Kids Can program are to increase access to early-intervention programs that help children develop strong foundations early in life, reduce barriers to medical rehabilitation and health care services, and create greater opportunities for physical activity and creativity.
“We are committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work and the CVS Caremark Community grants program does just that by supporting organizations that truly make a difference in the lives of children and families,” Dennis Palmer, senior vice president of CVS/pharmacy West Division Operations, said. “We are proud to support the work that Junior Achievement does in the community and we look forward to working with them in the year ahead.”
The grant from CVS Caremark will help JAAZ offer its economic programs to assist youth in the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) program learn life skills that will carry them through their adult life.
“CVS has been a valued Junior Achievement of Arizona financial supporter for two years. Their funding has allowed us to provide our financial literacy and work readiness classroom programs to very deserving high school students from the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC),” Colleen A. Tomes, JAAZ vice president of programs, said. “We appreciate their generosity which has allowed us to form such a wonderful partnership,”
“Our clients at SARRC have really benefited from the curriculum with Junior Achievement. It provides an ‘ah-ha’ moment on what it takes to live in the ‘real world’ of independence,” Jennifer Soley M,Ed. CommunityWorks facilitator at SARRC's Vocational and Life Skills Academy, added. “In addition, our clients can have some foresight of the direction they would like to take when they graduate from high school. We are very grateful for our partnership with Junior Achievement.”
