    Birds of the Nemunas River

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     alius911 photographed swans and ducks swimming in the Nemunas River in Kaunas, Lithuania, on January 4. He says temperatures dipped down to negative 16 degrees Celsius, causing some of the birds to get stuck in the lake because the water was turning into ice. He says the people in his photographs are from the Animal Welfare Association in Lithuania and they were making sure the birds were not injured and well enough to care for themselves.

    The weather gets cold and the river perishing ice. Need help birds.
    Freezes the river they can not find food. Therefore, weaker and will not get to escape from predators.
