Oh, some people will NEVER get it!

So this has been my favorite Ireport so far. I posted a story a couple of days ago, highlighting the importance of living within ones means. I didn't say this to be condescending towards anyone, but of course with the personalities that visit this site, it never fails plenty will disagree.

My point is, I don't see where the disagreement part comes in. I had responded to one poster's blog, because she would rather collect an unemployment check (so would her husband) than get a job- ANYWHERE. She says she's "overqualified" because she has her master's degree.

C'mon. Apparently people don't realize the extent of the situation that they would rather NOT work, than have any job at all. This is what is frustrating. I've responded harshly to those who feel they deserve a government bailout due to the situation that THEY put themselves in. Or they have made comments about how they have given up luxuries, yet they still have the internet, cable, and cell phones.

They need a true lesson in the difference between a necessity and a luxury!!

To make the situation more difficult, there are plenty of those out there who feel sorry for the ones who are struggling, and come to thier aid calling me a low life for "judging" them. By offering someone SOUND and practical advice, I wouldn't consider that judging.

However, didn't fail that the person backing up a particular poster up reads through all four pages of my blogs, insisted I'm cash strapped because I'm in a house I ONLY put 3% down on. I didn't feel it was appropriate to talk about our savings account balances on that blog, which are doing quite well, but I thought the idea that we have a mortgage which is less than 25% of our monthly income didn't need much more of an explanation. We're within our means.

Apparently, to some, me having a second job considers me, or offers the notion, that I'm cash strapped. Dare I be working when I don't have to, right? I mean, I did just get married, but why work when I can put it on credit, right? I say wrong. I say, while I'm young and healthy, and we don't have children- YET, I can work as many hours as I can. And I take pride in that.

If I lost my job, or we were struggling, working at Mickey D's on a midnight shift wouldn't be below me. I'm working midnight shifts now. (Although some look past all the public service officials, news workers, and hospital staff as possible midnight shifts one can hold and assume it means I am in prositution.)

My point is that this blog has taught me a lot. For one, it doesn't matter how responsible the point I'm arguing is- people will still disagree. And unfortunately, I've learned through this topic- that there are too many out there who would rather take a handout than work. And that is sad!

I'll leave you with this: I practice what I preach. I'm not in debt (besides my mortgage and a car loan.) I make my monthly bills and we are able to save enough that we WILL retire financially secure one day. I do have a heart, although I have little patience for stupidity. And I do have the utmost respect for others who LIVE WITHIN THIER MEANS, and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIER ACTIONS!
