The Corn Cooked-in-sand Sold on The Street

War in a neighbouring land has been going on for many years, it has effected many people but still life has to move on.People have to go to work, children have to go to school, some have to open shops some have to sell and buy food-eating drinking and working cannot stop.Life moves on, though a little slow and what a perfect way to reflect this lifestyle in the character of the Brave PathanThis is the brave pathan , a citizen of the North Western region of Asia, he makes a wonderful meaningful life with his ‘corn meal cart’.His native land is in a state of war, and he has travelled to safer areas. Not wasting his time, he, like many of his family members and members of his tribe, has made a wooden cart to sell ‘the corn cob’.
Covered by layers of heavy cloth , jute and with sometimes velvet too , as in this cart which came in our street, the prepared corn cobs are kept hot and soft’ . There are lemons and crushed salt and chillies. When anyone buys a cob , he is treated to a piece with a sprinkle of salt and chilly powder mix, rubbed into the pearly yellow beads and dabbed with lemon juice from a freshly cut fruit. The lemon fruit is in a plastic bag tied to the handle of the wooden cart and the salt and chilly powder is in the black tin powder fixed on the side of the cart.A complete shop, a complete factory and a one man sole proprietor business.
He is an icon, a cultural identity, a living sign of peoples liberty , an unforgettable symbol of exemplary dignity of labour.
