Black Nazarene Replicas Take Part In Procession

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Photojournalist eacayan snapped this colorful procession in Manila, Philippines, of worshippers preparing for Wednesday's festival honoring the Black Nazarene -- a darkened wooden statue of Jesus believed to have miraculous powers. The city is often brought to a standstill by the procession, which also takes place on Good Friday and New Years Day. "Millions take part in the procession because they believe that touching the image or merely the rope that pulls it will bring miraculous blessings," he said. For Monday, however, the statues carried are merely replicas.
