Police Officer / Songwriter Is discovered by Jimmy Buffett
After winning a song-contest with American Songwriter Magazine in 2012 with a song entitled "Dear Jimmy Buffett," Matt Hoggatt, a Mississippi songwriter, police officer and married father of three is getting a chance at a bigger stage. Songwriter and entrepreneur Jimmy Buffett found the song and invited Hoggatt to a show in Birmingham, Al where he was surprised with a newly written rendition of his song by Buffett entitled "Dear Matt Hoggatt." Buffett invited Hoggatt to perform the song on stage in front of thousands for two of his shows which kicked off a fury of youtube videos. The song, which asks Buffett for a record deal became a reality after landing a tour designed by buffett which included recordings from live shows. The live record which is now available on Mailboat Records is entitled "Hotter Than Fishgrease." more info can be found at
