Cruelty to animals
This story made the headlines of our local newspaper even though it happened in Croatia and upset most of us for how men (but can we use this term to refer to such people?) may be cruel to animals. Misko was a cute dog that lived with his 89 year old owner ( who had no one else but her pooch) in the little town of Gallesano. He would spend most of his time on a little wall from where he observed people passing by, he was not aggressive, didn't bark and didn't disturb anybody. On New Year's Eve some people killed him by exploding fireworks in his mouth. Even though he was rushed to the veterinarian the vet could do nothing but put an end to his suffering. X rays revealed that some time ago the dog had been wounded by a gun too. There are suspects as to who killed the dog, people are asking these criminals face justice which according to the new law could be not just a fine but up to a month behind bars. A group has been created on Facebook asking Misko's killers be brought to justice, it has already been joined by more than 43000 people from Croatia and Italy and the number is constantly increasing. The name of this group is "Želimo javno imena počinitelja Koji su petardom ubili Miška".
P.S. the dog in the photo that I'm accompanying my ireport with, has nothing to do with the one that was killed it's just a photo of a furred friend that popped into my pharmacy because they know I always keep on hand a handful of dog delicatessen for my four legged friends when they pop over.
