    Huell Howser, My Idol

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     finley938 met Howser several times and was impressed that he was the same on and off-camera. 'What stands out in my mind about him is the perspective he offered to his audience. Nothing was mundane to him. Everything was a priceless work of art. If you look at his interviews, you will never find an unkind word or negative slant. He saw only one world, and that world was beautiful to him. He tried to share that enthusiasm with all he came into contact with. It doesn’t get any better than that, if you’re looking for a real direction in life.'

    Rarely does the public ever get the chance to see a man on the screen who was so positive and passionate about life itself.
    Every leaf evoked a response, it seemed, with Huell. He represented, to me, the kind of guy who was content with himself, and loved all; a combination so rare in today's artificial "character" creations. He will be missed, but perhaps he has set the standard for performers of the future.
