    My Underground Life

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     iReporter chopsm feels the most memorable Tube journey for him is the one he makes almost every day to work -- from Bethnal Green tube in east London to Charing Cross where he works. "I have used tube/metro systems in other cities, and they may be more modern, but they don't have the coverage the Tube has," he says. "Also, the signs and map of the London Underground are just the best in class, period!"
    - sarahbrowngb, CNN iReport producer

My London Underground commute starts at Bethnal Green station in the East End of London. In March 1943 Bethnal Green had the largest single loss of civilian life in the UK in World War II and, to-date, the largest loss of life in a single incident on the London Underground network, after a terrible accident caused by a crush to get into the underground during an air air road killed 173 most of them women and children.

Travel on the underground is very much part of my London life and because of it's quick and regular service I don't need to own a car. Payment is made with the ubiquitous Oyster smart touch card which holds my travel ticket and a cash credit in case I need to do out of my my normal travel zone.

As a underground commuter I am governed by rules, 'Stand On the Right', 'Stand Clear Train Approaching' and so on. But I am also rewarded by London Underground approved buskers in certain locations on my journey playing their music for all to enjoy as well as convenience stores at some stations to fuel my day.

The London Underground is part of my life now, I am glad it is here. If you ever visit London I recommend you give it a try for it is a wonderful marvel of our great City.
