Strict Gun-Laws are Necessary in a Democracy
I believe that gun-ownership laws in a democracy should be strict. I don’t want democracy to be threatened by anarchy and chaos, so strict gun laws must ensure that citizens in a democracy will respect the rule of law.
Semi-automatic rifles, like versions of AK-47 and AR-15, should not be owned by civilians and retired military personnel. Such weapons are quite dangerous! If some insane or criminal-minded people would acquire such weapons, then there’s a danger that many human lives will be threatened. Drug tests for gun-owners should be conducted on a monthly basis, in order to ensure that such gun-owners are really responsible members of the community. Those who will renew their gun-licenses should take psychological tests to prove that they can manage their weapons effectively. Gun-ownership in a democracy should be strict because we don’t want our democratic values be threatened by anarchy and chaos.
I believe that the US should have strict gun-control laws. The US is the leader of the Free World and it should show to the whole world that its democratic institutions will not tolerate abuses in the utilization of licensed weapons.
Would-be gun-owners in a democracy should take psychological exams and be evaluated by those who are giving out gun-ownership licenses. Such would prevent people who have mental disorders from acquiring weapons. Also, the government should limit the number of weapons that can be bought by one person. No one person should have so many weapons that might lead her or him to build a private army or militia.
The government should ensure that those who would be given gun-ownership licenses must take seminars on tolerance and human rights, so that such gun-owners will not become abusive with their weapons. Seminars on tolerance and human rights should also be given to those who will renew their gun-ownership licenses.
