Breakthrough Artist of 2013: Ricky J
Moving from Montreal, Quebec in early 2012 to Los Angeles, Ricky really hit the ground running making an impact as soon as he arrived. During his short time on the west coast he released his new album “Paint This Town” with the hit single “One Drop” and has since written and performed an original song, “Welcome To CheaterVille”, with recording artist Sibley for the multi-million dollar website CheaterVille.com, which he released to a packed crowd at Eden Hollywood.
His good-natured, free-spirited attitude has made him popular with all different types of social scenes including the surprising television appearance on VH1’s “Bad Girls Club” where he was the subject of affection for two of the hotheaded stars. He has also been spotted at the 2012 APLA Oscar Party, the FU*K Cancer charity event with Foster the People and the Butterfly Gala at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills supporting the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. No matter where he goes, Ricky is always stealing the crowd both on and off stage. Outside of the APLA event, an attendee commented “Ricky J genuinely brings everyone to the present when he is around you. It is rare for this city”.
More recently, leading up to the new year, the Gold-selling recording artist showed his festive side this holiday season, performing for the Guggenheim Partners at their New York City Christmas party; He also found himself busy co-hosting a private gala with famed rock stars Billy Idol and Fred Durst.
Currently, Ricky is returning to Los Angeles from a long tour in Cabo and Canada to work in-studio on his new single coming out later this year. For some people 2013 is a fresh start, but for Ricky J, this will be the focal point of his career!
