    Feast of the Black Nazarene

Today January 09, 2013 is the Feast of the Black Nazarene, whose image is enshrined in the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila, is imbued with piety and devotion. The Feast is held every year highlighted by the “Traslacion,” a mammoth procession participated in by millions of maroon-clad, barefoot Filipino devotees, shouting “Viva Senor.” The Black Nazarene, a life-sized image of Christ bearing His cross, remains an enduring symbol of the Filipino faith in the Almighty. At time of post, the black Nazarene is still in procession along with an estimated six to eight million devotees heading its way back to the Basilica in Quiapo Manila.
