dust storm of onslow western australia

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Seafarer cooperville was sailing through the Mangrove Passage north of Onslow in western Australia when he captured these stunning images of a dust storm bearing down on his ship. "I was on the main deck of the ship I work on and could see the dust moving," he said. "Once the storm hit our wind speed meter went from five knots to 52 in seconds and everything went very dark as the dust hid the sun." He said there was no damage to his ship and no crew were injured, but all were on duty in case of any problems. The distinctive red tinge to the storm comes from Western Australia's noted red sand.
